Internet and low participation projects
In The miraculous power of scale Chris Anderson points an interesting view: in a environment as huge as the Internet it’s easier to reach the critial mass that makes a project sustenaible. That is, Internet is making possible a lot of ideas that were not possible before.
Examples? YouTube (0.1% of its users are contributors), Wikipedia (0.01%) and, of course, spam (0.00001%).
